The Metamorphosis of Metal and Lace

Change of form, or structure; transformation.

Metamorphosis:  A change in the form or function of a living organism, by a natural process of growth or development; as of a tadpole into a frog, or of a bud into a blossom; a series of marked changes of external form, as stages; passing through a cycle of changes; transformation; the change of material of one kind into another.

MetaLace speaks of the beauty and purpose in each of our lives. MetaLace is created from everyday things, used-up things, discarded things, broken things that are taken and changed, metamorphosed into something “new,” into things of beauty that we “wear.” While we each wear the sum of our experiences—some good, some broken—God transforms it all into something new, something beautiful, something unique…us.

Much has been written about the irritation added to the oyster shell that produces the beautiful pearl.  Through a similar metamorphosis, the colors of jade are determined by the composition of the soil with its silicates and metals.  Found in rivers and mountains, jade varies in color from apple green to the highly valued and rare lavender color, a symbol of longevity.

These are all elements of beauty that have gone through a metamorphosis.

MetaLace exemplifies this in the creation of unorganized, twisted metal into something of order, shape, beauty, and purpose. MetaLace is “order out of chaos,” beauty out of brokenness.
